Daddy's Dawgs...

...have made it to the NCAA Final Four for the second year in a row!  Michael has been waiting for and looking for a "Back to Back" Final Four t-shirt since Saturday when Butler won their game.  Evan and I ran down to campus today (thank goodness for spring break) to pick up a shirt for him.  After several picture text messages and two (long) walks to the top of the arena and back down again, we left the Historic Hinkle Fieldhouse store with the perfect t-shirt for Daddy.  Here are a couple of pictures of Evan near the top of the arena.

The Armadillo from Amarillo

My dear cousin, Mindy, has two sweet little girls in Kindergarten.  One of their projects was to send an armadillo across the country to see the sites of a different part of the United States.  Madison sent her armadillo to me, so here's where we went:

 *to the Peyton Manning Children's Hospital (just for a class - nothing serious)

 *The Indianapolis Motor Speedway - Home of the "Biggest Spectacle in Racing."

 *to the Indianapolis Museum of Art - their outdoor sculptures

 *to Historic Hinkle Fieldhouse - Home of the 2010 NCAA Men's Basketball Runners-up

 *to the 106th Street Cafe - we could've skipped this one - it was smoky inside.  Yuck!

Random March Pics

We bought a new cake mold (a 3D train) last week, so Evan helped with "clean up."

Evan was "doing work" with me the other day.  He likes to keep me company while I grade.

We ran to the Indianapolis Art Museum on Saturday; I couldn't resist taking a picture with the sculpture with his age.

Evan's Words of Warning

If Evan has ever bid you good-bye along with a "be careful," certainly, you've heard this.  We have no idea where he picked it up, but when we tell friends and family that are leaving good-bye and be careful, Evan adds this cautionary warning:  "Watch out for dog poop and kitty cat pee!"  Every once in a while he'll also tell you not to bonk your car.  He's nutty.  :-)

Slow News Month

Not much has been going on here at our house.  I think I've snapped about 7 pictures since my last post.  Whoopsie!  Here are a couple of Evan helping Daddy at Mimi and Papa's (after Daddy installed the new fireplace thing) and at our house (after we cleaned the carpets).  There's also one of him being his silly self on the piano bench.

Snow (Ice) Days!

On Monday night, a serious ice storm hit our city.  We didn't lose power (woo-hoo!), but school was canceled for everyone for 4 days.  This is rare.  Where I work, school cancels more than where Mike works.  I work in a mostly rural district though.  Our neices, who also go to school nearby, were canceled for 4 days as well.  They've spent 2 days with us since we're home.  Today, we baked cut-out cookies.  I hate baking & decorating cut-out cookies.  Since there were 3 cutters and decorators, we went for it.  They had a nice time.  I told the kids they could each eat 1 cookie.  The oldest neice ate 1.  The youngest neice ate 2.  Evan (who is a year younger than the youngest neice), took a bite of each one.  My oldest neice called it "Quality Assurance."  What a nice spin she put on that! 

Technology - Found!

Evan has recently taken interest in the iPod and the computer.  We've been trying for a year to teach the boy how to use the computer/mouse.  All of the sudden a couple of weeks ago, he finally decided he was through asking for help.  Now he can "hit the fireball" and go to bookmarks to get on his websites.  He also likes the iPod.  I loaded some cartoons on it and took it with us to the doctor a couple of weeks ago.  He was an angel in the car - it had snowed that morning and it took us 1:20 to get to the doctor.  Half of the trip was a treat for him because I got the iPod out and it was a brand new world!
