But I'm Helping.

Evan has taken to yanking up the threshold in between our family room and our kitchen. He has prompted Mike to go buy Liquid Nails tomorrow (since apparently we're out at the moment).

New Sandwich for Evan

Whole Wheat Bread. Almond Butter. Marshmallow Creme. Bananas. Yum.

Evan's Second Cousins...

...once removed. In other words, these are my grandma's great-grandsons. The 5 year old was good, the baby was good, but Evan (aka - "The Tornado") was only good for 2 pictures.

More of the Sweet Seat

The fridge is still Evan's favorite hang-out.

Helper and Supervisor

Evan has taken to being a helper and then switching to supervisor when it suits him. Notice the helping, then the supervising. Mike says the supervising part is from his Grandpa Chuck.

Like My New PJs?

My mom bought Evan some Curious George Jammies. They're really soft and cute!

Evan's New Favorite Seat

We got a new fridge last week because our old one died. Evan loves the fridge side. He often makes himself at home when we open it up to get something.

One More Snuggle

So Evan's new bedtime "thing" is to go to bed...for about 5 minutes. Then, he throws everything (blanket, pillow, paci, bear, and froggy) out of his crib and yells. We wait for a while until his yells turn more dramatic and go get him. Once he's downstairs again, all he wants is one more snuggle with one of us. This is last night about 5 minutes after he came downstairs. We went with it though because I took him up to bed about 10 minutes later and he slept all night! Woo-hoo! (Evan is still a "wake-up-once-a-night-to-make-sure-we're-still-here" kid.)

Have Phone, Will Talk

Evan LOVES talking on any phone that is given to him. He holds the phone and volleys conversation (with his jabber). Sometimes he will get in his car and talk - I don't know where could possibly get that from. ;-)

The Milk Man

Our fridge died last weekend, so we went to Lowe's and bought a new one. It's a side-by-side deal, so Evan is loving the part where he can reach the milk since it has to go on a lower shelf. Mike was going in and out of the fridge while he was making Evan's dinner this evening and Evan was snatching the milk jugs and putting them in his car. Too bad it's not 1945 because Evan might have found a vocation at the age of 1. :-)

More Man Kitchen

I was baking cookies the other day and I had a helper (Evan likes to "help"...a lot with everything), so I scooted Evan's tool bench over next to the countertop and gave him some supplies.

Hives

Evan broke out in hives on Tuesday night. I noticed a rash on his ankle when we were waiting in line to vote. He's allergic to lavender (we think) so I thought maybe his socks may have been washed at the sitter's because we tend to leave a few pair there. He woke up screaming at 10 pm that night and we headed for the ER. He has medicine now, but he broke out again yesterday. He had canned passion fruit for lunch at the sitter's on both days, so we may have pinpointed the cause. Here he is sleeping off his Benadryl. If you look really closely, you can see a little pink on his belly. :-( Poor boy has has a rough week - pink eye and hives!

Double-fistin' His Drinks

Daddy, a frat boy back in the day, was more than happy to let Evan get his drinks out of the fridge before the Bears game. Notice I said drinks (plural). I would have had him choose milk or orange juice, but Daddy let him pick both. I'm stuck in a house with boys.

A Very Pink Eye Halloween

(He's parting the Red Sea here.)

So there were grand plans, one year in the making, for Halloween 2008. We would go to Evan's Godparents' house and walk a few blocks to the Governor's Mansion, so Evan could Trick-or-Treat there. (My mom has been telling me to borrow a kid for years so I could go do this.) My mom and dad came down from Ft. Wayne, and Evan's entourage was going to be in full effect. Then, I picked him up after work and was driving home. I looked back and saw Evan's poor little right eye, pink and oozing. We called the doctor (at 3:45, a little too late on a Friday), went to a Minute Clinic (where the patient has to be 18 months old to get treated - Evan is 16 months old), and then to an Immediate Care Clinic where Evan was diagnosed with "highly contagious pink eye." We had to scrap our plans and take him home. We were all bummed out about it - but maybe next year.

Evan was Moses from the Old Testament. He ran around at home while Trick-or-Treaters (all 14 of them) came to the door.

Spoons and Forks

(He's given up at this point and is trying to eat applesauce with his fingers.)

Evan is learning the art of not being a caveman. He is slowly starting to use utensils to eat. It's messy.

Beauty Shop

Evan likes when I leave my hair down. He grabs it, picks it up, and then drops it. He was doing that before bed the other night. You can't see my face, but that's me.

My Daddy Loves This!

You don't need your left eye, do you Dad?
Whew, break!

Guess who (keep your right eye closed)?

Attack!

Mike lets Evan climb, pull, roll over and all around abuse him. What's so funny, is he knows he can only do that to Papa and Dad. He doesn't even try with Mom, Auntie, Mimi or anyone else.
