Ravioli

So I think I'll walk today.

Evan decided today was the day he'd walk. 1 year and 1 day old. He's taken small walks like this about 6 or 7 times today; hopefully, there's a trend here. :-)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVAN!

Evan turned one year old today. Some moms get wistful and sad that their babies are older- not me. I thanked the Lord I haven't been pregnant in a year! Selfish? Quite possibly, but true nonetheless.

Evan's birthday events:

• Evan ate toast and his first helping of scrambled eggs for breakfast this morning.


• Then, the two of us went to garage sales down the road for a couple of hours while Dad was at baseball. Evan was a trooper; we probably got in and out of the car at least 10 times (I think he knew I was spending my money on new toys!). I tuckered him out though and he fell asleep in the car (did I mention we turned his carseat around - hooray!).


• We drove over to Aunt Judy's house and hung out for a little while with Aunt Judy and Evan's cousin that will be 2 next week until we went to McDonald's to meet up with Grandma Mary and Daddy. Evan ate a cheeseburger (with no burger) and a yogurt parfait (with no parfait).


• We went home, played with all of his new toys, ate a little cupcake (chocolate with blue icing), had tubby time, played with Auntie, played with his new toys and went to bed.

Above is a picture to give some perspective on how BIG he has gotten. When we brought him home on the 23rd of June last year, he was the same size as the monkey in the picture. Wow huh?

I love...

We had Evan's birthday party at Grandma Mary's today. He demolished his cake. Here he is right before we threw him in the tub to clean him up; he was in a cake-induced trance. ;-)

The Elmo Slippers

Auntie has let Evan borrow her Elmo slippers so he can play with them. He loves them!

First Steps

Evan took a few unassisted steps on Sunday! He walked from Papa to Auntie and later from Daddy to Mommy. They didn't last long, but he did it! Of course we don't have it on tape - that'll take a while. Evan, while good natured, is not a performer. You can ask him for a kiss, a hug, five or even a high five (because he, too, is bringing the high five back), but he won't do it unless the mood has struck. :-)

Evan will be 1 on the 20th of this month. Because I'm such a photo nerd, I've created a slide show with one picture from each week of his life. Note: The first picture of Evan on our camera was picture #4171. We are now on #6944. Now not all of those pictures had Evan as the subject, but I would venture to say about 2300 of them have been of Evan. (Don't worry, we've erased the excessive multiples.)

Perseverance...and Height

Evan loves the remote controls. Mike hid them on top of the couch behind the cushions. Mike quickly learned he has to hide the remotes when little man isn't watching. Evan promptly crawled behind the couch and it took him all of a minute to get a remote.
