Light Sabre

So we each picked up a couple of things for Evan on our own this year. I got Evan jammies and a book. Mike got him a light sabre (and a Hot Wheels track). It's cute to see Evan with it, I'm all for Star Wars, and Evan is actually insisting on taking it to bed with him, but if stuff starts breaking, it's all on Mike (as I told him in this video). :-)

Mewy Kwitmus Dad

Evan told us "Mewy Kwitmus" all day on Christmas. It was so cute.

Christmas

Evan was a good boy at Christmas. He was all about opening everyone's presents. He would stop at the box though. He opened up a gift from his grandma, and I said, "Evan, what did grandma get you?" He replied, "A box." Evan received 2 train sets, tons of Disney's Cars stuff, puzzles, jammies, a light sabre, a Cubs/Bears blanket, and on and on and on. The train sets were the big hit though. Mike built a train table and Evan played all day (including in between getting changed for bed). He even cried for his "Choo choo twain!" when he had to go to bed on Christmas night.

Future Competitive Eater?

Evan likes his food. I can't really get him to eat breakfast, but his sitter, Miss Melba, can. Here are a few pictures of Evan eating dinner tonight and being silly. It reminded me of the competitive eating competition Mike makes me watch on July 4 every year. Maybe Evan will be the next Joey Chestnut (current Coney Island hot dog record holder). As a parent, I can only dream....

Tent

As I was taking our king-size sheets and duvet to the laundry room today, I threw them on top of Evan to be funny. It then turned into a 30 minute tent adventure in which we were told, "Come on in!"

Haircuts and Donuts

Evan can now be bought. For a 1/2 scoop of ice cream and a little Mickey Mouse on the TV, he'll allow his head to be buzzed (for a short amount of time).

These are also pictures of Evan with a box of donut holes. Weird, but funny. :-)

Bye Bye Baby Crib

So Evan's crib is one of the recently recalled models. Conveniently, the company that manufactured it has gone out of business, so we have put it with the trash that will be collected on Saturday. Evan's been sleeping in the 3-sided bed for a while now, but we decided to clean up his room and move him to the big boy bed frame we've had since this fall. No problems at all. He just has a TON of stuff in his bed with him at night - such a packrat - just like my grandpa was. Here are some pictures of Evan and Mike taking down his crib and then Evan's bed with all of his crap in it. :-)

Chocolate Syrup

So I was tinkering on the computer (for 10 minutes) and talking to Mike on the phone when we got home today, and Evan was playing in the same room. He ran out and ran in and was reading books and playing with toys (or so I thought). I turned around and I see my son. He was swigging chocolate syrup like it was a water bottle on a hot day....bottoms up. He had pulled open the fridge (yes, he's been doing that for about a year now - he's freakishly strong) and grabbed the syrup. Wow. The clean up wasn't at all what it could have been. Whew.

Evan and the Tree

Did you know they have donuts at church?

Score! I'll be good and sit in a pew for an hour if it means donuts!!!!

Men Under Snuggies

I had to snap a picture of Mike and Evan under the Snuggie. Mike hates the part where it has arms, but he does agree that it is long enough and light enough for him to use (sans the arms).

Santa

We went with Alex and her parents to see Santa at the mall last Wednesday. Evan wasn't all about sitting on Santa, but he was happy to sit next to Santa. It wasn't going to go well if the moms weren't in the picture though....In the formal picture, we see where we missed wiping the ketchup off of Evan's face, and Alex is not too pleased about the entire situation. (I'll spare you from that one.)

Jump (on the toy tubs)

Wouldn't you know when he fell down, he landed on his butt and then got right back up. Most kids would shy away, but it was like a challenge to jump and not fall.

Whoops - Wrong Shorts!

Here is a picture of Evan in Mikes shorts. They're a little big right now....Check out the first picture. Mike has Evan's pants on. ;-)

Bedtime

We said, "Bye bye paci - we'll miss you, but we don't need you anymore," (for good this time) recently. We also turned Evan's bed into a 3-sided "big boy" bed. We read books (he finally has begun letting us read to him again) before bed. He likes his Leslie Patricelli books so much I had to put a nightstand next to his bed so he could read by nightlight afte we turn out the lights. :-)

The Love Affair Continues

Evan - 2009

Evan (showing Alex how it works) - 2008

Evan - 2007

My mom and dad bought Evan a Snoopy snow globe when he was 6 months old. It was the 2nd gift he opened on his 1st Christmas - big mistake. He was only interested in that - in fact - we didn't put it away until August or so....Here is Evan with his Snoopy snow globe each year....

Tree Topper

Evan got to put the star on top of the tree this year. He got pretty close. Mike's dad always used to lift him up and let him do it. It made Mike's day when he got to do it with Evan, who is finally old enough. :-)
