Evan and I went to his 3 year doctor's appointment today. He's doing beautifully. His back is straight and strong, he has reached all of his developmental milestones (including potty training, which the doctor was impressed with), and he weighs 36.2 pounds and is 39 inches tall. Both are in the 75th-90th percentile for boys his age.
Here are some pictures of Evan helping me "shuck" corn the other day. He's a true Indiana boy - he never turns down corn!

Deal of the Day
I finally found a kitchen for Evan that wasn't expensive, cheaply built or pink! I got this KidKraft Kitchen at a garage sale yesterday for $10. It's missing a sink and one knob, but it's in good shape, all of the doors open and close correctly, and it's not pink! I looked online yesterday, and this model doesn't seem to be for sale from the company right now, but I'd have to pay $140 to buy it from ebay or somewhere else. That, my friends, is not only the deal of the day, it's the steal of the day! :-)
Conner Prairie
Evan and I met my grad. school girlfriend, Karen, and her two little girls at Conner Prairie. We were Karen's +2 with her membership. I had never been there - I've lived about 8 miles away for the past 4 years, but every invitation we had to go had just never worked out. Growing up in Fort Wayne, we had The Old Fort in 4th grade where people dressed up in period clothing and showed us how life was back then. Mike's 4th grade trip was to Conner Prairie, much like many school children across the state. It was awesome! There were lots of things for young kids to do, and we didn't even see everything (since we were with a 5 week old, a 2 year old, and a 3 year old). Here are some pics of Adele and Evan. :-)

Evan is Three!
Evan's birthday was fun! We did tons of stuff to celebrate.
- On Friday, we went to the Touch a Truck event in Broadripple. We met up with some friends, and had a really fun time. I also decorated Evan's School Bus cake for Saturday while Evan decorated his own cake.
- On Sunday, we stayed home. We celebrated Father's Day and Evan's actual birthday with Evan's Grandma Mary, Aunt Judy, and Ti. Evan helped mix the cake and watched me decorate it. It's Wubbzy and Walden - from Nick Jr.'s Wow Wow Wubbzy! TV show. Evan told me, "Mom, this is the best Wubbzy and Walden cake ever!"
- Evan saw lots of friends, opened lots of gifts, and played his little heart out. He was so patient with the cake each day. He waited until everyone was there so, "we could start the party!" :-)

Empowerment
Everyone needs to feel empowered by something. For Evan, it's water. He had a spray bottle the other day when we were at my sister's house (Ti) to ward off unwanted dog affection. He used that spray bottle on anything and everything until it was empty. Today, we washed my car and then soaked the deck. You can see the feeling of power on this boy's face - hysterical.
A Good Husband Some Day
Evan will wow a girl's socks off some day if he continues today's trend. This morning he said, "Mom. I NEED to clean," so I gave him the Dust Buster to sweep up grass out of our shoe basket (which he did thoroughly). Then, after his nap, he made his own snack. He was meticulous at this also.

Food Project
Evan and I do "food projects" every once in a while. Our friend Alex came over tonight for a little while, so we did chocolate pretzels. Both of the kids were serious and quiet when they were working - it didn't hurt that I told them they could lick their fingers (Evan licked his spoon). While the project was drying, we went outside and washed up in the water table (notice their chocolate mustaches). Evan and Alex then played "Water the Deck" which is one of Evan's favorite activities when we're out back. We had a lot of fun! :-)
Hot Air Balloon Show
Evan and I went to the Indy Air Show on Friday night. It was about 10-15 minutes from our house, and they were having a hot air baloon "glow" show. (They weren't planning on flying any, just inflating them.) Well, the weather came and we only got to see 2 balloons get inflated. We came when the website said something would be going on, but we ended up waiting for 45 minutes to see some action.

Downtown Adventure
Evan, Ti, and I went downtown this morning to go to the Christ Church Cathedral's Strawberry Festival on The Circle. Ever since I moved down here (8 years ago next month - wow), I would see it on the news and be bummed that I missed it. Not this year! We parked at IUPUI, took our time, and walked through White River State Park, a parking garage, the Marriott, the Convention Center, Circle Centre Mall, and the Arts Garden before we ended up about a block away from The Circle. (We took our long detour inside so we wouldn't be in the sun too much at once - we burn). Here is the photo shoot I took - it doesn't even look like I'm there (the one picture of me was not that great).
