A Very Pink Eye Halloween

(He's parting the Red Sea here.)

So there were grand plans, one year in the making, for Halloween 2008. We would go to Evan's Godparents' house and walk a few blocks to the Governor's Mansion, so Evan could Trick-or-Treat there. (My mom has been telling me to borrow a kid for years so I could go do this.) My mom and dad came down from Ft. Wayne, and Evan's entourage was going to be in full effect. Then, I picked him up after work and was driving home. I looked back and saw Evan's poor little right eye, pink and oozing. We called the doctor (at 3:45, a little too late on a Friday), went to a Minute Clinic (where the patient has to be 18 months old to get treated - Evan is 16 months old), and then to an Immediate Care Clinic where Evan was diagnosed with "highly contagious pink eye." We had to scrap our plans and take him home. We were all bummed out about it - but maybe next year.

Evan was Moses from the Old Testament. He ran around at home while Trick-or-Treaters (all 14 of them) came to the door.
