Washington, D.C.
After our week-long vacation to Disney World, we drove on up to Washington, D.C., so Mike could attend a conference he was invited to by C-Span. We got there 2 days early, and saw the sights. Of course it was when temperatures were 100+ degrees...we still had the sit and stand stroller we borrowed from friends for Disney World, so Mike and I put on our walking shoes and pushed the kids along. We figured out Mike and I walked 12+ miles easy - - but we saw the Smithsonians (Air & Space, Natural History, & American History), The Newseum, The White House, Blair House, The National Mall which included the Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Reflecting Pool (under construction), World War II Monument, Washington Monument (also under construction), and Capitol Hill (with several smaller parks and statues of honor along the way). Many called us crazy - - - and it wasn't always easy - - - but what kind of parents don't give their kids the chance to see the nation's capital when the opportunity presents itself? :)
